Ventricular arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm, which indicates a problem in the lower chambers of the heart. In such a situation, the heart rate increases and the blood pressure also decreases. If this problem is not treated in time, it can be fatal.
A team led by the University of Leicester in the UK has developed a device called VA Nest Rest-50. A study published in the European heart journal Digital Health used the device to examine the Holter electrocardiogram (ECG) of 270 adults living at home between 2014 and 2022.
Approximately 159 individuals experienced fatal ventricular arrhythmias at an average of 1.6 years after ECG. The AI tool correctly predicted four out of every five cases, identifying which patient's heart was capable of ventricular arrhythmia.
